U-Pick Strawberries

Monday, June 18 will be our first day of pick-your-own strawberries.  If you have your own ice cream pails, bring them with you; otherwise, we have some you can borrow and we’ll transfer your berries into our flats for you to take home.

U-pick strawberries are $1.75 per pound, which comes out to about $8-$10 dollars per pail, depending on your pail and the size of the berries you pick.

We are open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. but we think you should come early to avoid the heat and the chance that we are picked out.

Lindy’s Berries Official Pie Filling

Aside

This recipe is considered Lindy’s Berries Official Pie Filling–we love it so much that we have it printed on every pail of strawberries we sell.  It’s so simple, yet so delicious, that we think it will become your family’s favorite too.  We make at least one of each, strawberry and raspberry, every summer.  It’s even good with fresh peaches, blackberries, and blueberries.  Just change up the gelatin flavor to match the fruit you are using or mix and match for your own personal palette.

Here are the ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 cup water (that’s one and three-fourths cups)
  • 1 – 3 oz. package strawberry gelatin
  • 1 – 3 oz. package vanilla pie filling (not instant)

Combine water, gelatin and pie filling and stir until all dry ingredients dissolve in the water.  Cook in the microwave or stove top until mixture boils and thickens.  Cool to room temperature but not set.  Layer cooked gelatin and berries into a baked pie shell of your choice (we use Pet-Ritz Frozen Pie Shells–Deep Dish).  Place in refrigerator for several hours until firmly set.  Serve with real whipped cream.  YUM!

Strawberries!

We had a great first picking this weekend and we’re looking forward to a busy week with lots of red, ripe, juicy strawberries.  This Monday, June 11, we are giving the fields time to ripen, so we won’t have berries available but we’ll be picking again Tuesday morning for our roadside stands and for picked orders at the farm.

Depending on the weather and ripening, we plan to have strawberries in Spooner, Siren, Cumberland, and hopefully Hayward and Rice Lake from Tuesday on. We’ll update voice mail, FaceBook and Twitter every day to let you know where we have berries available.

Always feel free to give us a call at 715-468-7635 for an update on where to find Lindy’s Berries.
